In the summer, the Château de Clisson becomes the setting for life in the Middle Ages.

Troupes of re-enactors take over the château with costumes, armour, vendors and camps. Based on meticulous research, the re-enactments are a true-to-life depiction of what life was like at the time!

A program for the whole family. Admission is free. Reservations required.

Civilian and military life in the early 15th century

Dive deep into the heart of the Middle Ages! Jean Phélippes de Coatgoureden stops at the Château de Clisson. The fortress being under construction and the weather being good, a comfortable tent, lined with silk and richly furnished, is set up. His staff, consisting of his surgeon, chamberlain, soldiers and cook, are busy serving the lord.

Also present at the château that weekend are the provost guard, a form of military police responsible for various tasks such as maintaining discipline in the army, meting out military justice, protecting the civilian population and controlling supplies.

45 minutes during which you’ll hear the fabulous story of Marguerite de Clisson, daughter and heiress of the famous Constable Olivier V de Clisson.
